We suggest keeping your holistic pet food in the bag even after it is open and you are feeding it to your pets to let the specially designed bag provide its protection to the food. Keep the food in a cool, dry, dark place and leave the resealable zip top on the bag when you open it. If you store the food in a plastic bin or tub make sure that you leave it in the bag and place the entire bag in the tub. Please do not store on a cement floor, under a sink or in a laundry room, garage or basement.
After opening a bag, we recommend using it within 1 – 3 months as long as it is stored in a cool dry place. You may also refrigerate our holistic kibble for up to 6 months. This may be particularly handy when feeding small dogs who require much smaller portions and smaller bags that can easily fit into a refrigerator. We do not recommend freezing the food because it can affect palatability.
Canned Food
Because our grain free canned food is made without preservatives, once a can is opened refrigerate any unused portion and use within 72 hours. If the canned food is put in a plastic container and sealed from the surrounding environment before being stores in the refrigerator the food should last up to three or four days. Discard any uneaten non-refrigerated portions that your pet has not consumed from his or her bowl after a few hours of feeding.
